Since gaining my degree I have surveyed Chudliegh Knighton Heath in Devon for the Red Data Book 1 ant Formica exsecta for the Devon Wildlife Trust and surveyed a number of areas in Scotland for the same ant as part of a University of Exeter & Royal Entomological Society sponsored expedition for this purpose. I was employed by the Biological Sciences Department of Exeter University to set up their WWW site and have made the Web Site for the Stapledon Memorial Trust.
After gaining my MPhil I worked for 4 months doing total-phosphate soil analysis for Jerry Tallowin at IGER north Wyke.
Following this through the summer of 1998 I did some survey work for English Nature (Peterborough) on the population structure of Eristalis cryptarum, an RDB1 BAP species hoverfly (Syrphidae), on Dartmoor, and some general species diversity survey work for English Nature (Okehampton) on the invertebrates of Black-a-tor Copse an ancient upland Oak Woodland also on Dartmoor. I have also done some survey work for Southwest Ecological Surveys.
For the rest of the century I work 7 nights a week serving petrol, cleaning and stocking shelves in a 24 hour Esso service station.
In January 2001 I moved to Greece where I worked full-time on my web-site for 9 months and began an entomological survey of the greater Kerkini area.
In September 2001 I moved to Bulgaria to work as an English Language and Biology Teacher, this contract ended in June 2003 after two academic years of teaching.
Moving back to Greece I took up, employment as an English Language teacher and completed 3 years of employment as a teacher of English in Greece (I worked for the same private schools for all three years). During this time I voluntary organised and co-ordinated a biodiversity study of Kerkini Wetland, a RAMSAR site within which I had been living, and I wrote a book on the Biodiversity of the area which is currently being reviewed by the Greek Ministry of the Environment (very slowly).
In September 2006 I moved to Thailand and did a CELTA course with IHBankok, and then worked for BFITS teaching Science, Health, Maths and English Literature to secondary school students for 4 months (2nd term).
I returned to Greece in February 2007 to resume working as an Ecologist for the Management Authority of Wetland Kerkini. I worked on this project for 2.5 years
In Septemeber 2009 I commenced teaching again in Greece, working for two small private schools.

I was a member of the committee that runs the Bug Club, a club for children that like insects and other similar invertebrates, I was mostly concerned with writing articles and maintaining livestock for display officially I was the Events Officer.
Societies of which I have been a member include, The R.E.S, The A.E.S, The Phasmid Study Group, The Blattodea Culture Group, The British Entomological and Natural History Society, The Hoverfly Recording Scheme, The Dipterist Forum, The Bees Wasps and Ants Recording Scheme, The Devon Bird Watching and Preservation Society,The RSPB, The BTO, The Wetlands and Wildfowl Trust and the Wildlife Trusts.
